Importance of LIVE Process Hazard Analysis Status and Case Studies on Deviations
7th October 2020, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM IST (GMT+5.30 hrs)
Ms. Geetali Thakur
Deccan Fine Chemicals.
The webinar will emphasis the importance of LIVE PHA and will further discuss the linked documents that are required to be LIVE during the lifecycle of the operations.
Interesting Case studies related to deviations will be deliberated to discuss on how it could lead to significant incidents and how these could be avoided.
Layer Of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
14th October 2020, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM IST (GMT+5.30 hrs)
Mr. Chaitanya Gottimukkala
The webinar introduces the attendee to the concept of Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and its application. LOPA is a semi-quantitative risk assessment tool to evaluate the effectiveness and adequacy of the protection layers to manage the risk from an identified scenario. It is also used to determine the target Safety Integrity Level (SIL) of a Safety Instrumented Function (SIF). The scenarios requiring LOPA are identified from a previous Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP or similar) study. Additionally, this webinar will cover a worked-out example on the application of LOPA methodology for an identified scenario.
Webinar On Reliability
21st October 2020, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM IST (GMT+5.30 hrs)

Back to Basics: What You Need to Know About Dispersion Modelling
28th October 2020, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM IST (GMT+5.30 hrs)
Dr. Prankul Middha
Principal Consultant, Director
CFD Modelling Expert,
Adjunct Professor IIT-Delhi
The webinar will discuss various parameters that influence the dispersion of the flammable/toxic gases following a release. This includes density, temperature, ventilation conditions, process stream, etc. Various modelling techniques will be discussed, including both simplified methods involving the use of integral models as well as more advanced techniques such as those based on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Discharge modelling will also be included in the seminar as that is important to determine accurate source terms for the subsequent dispersion modelling. We will discuss why CFD techniques are the most appropriate for such applications, especially in the complex process facilities. The measures of gas cloud sizes used for risk analyses will also be covered.
Human Factors in Barrier Thinking and Bowtie Analysis
4th November 2020, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM IST (GMT+5.30 hrs)
Prof. Ron McLeod
Independent Human Factors Consultant,
Ron McLeod Ltd,
The webinar will contrast two recently completed Bowtie studies: one facilitated for an oil and gas service company through a face-to-face workshop immediately before lockdown restrictions came into force in Europe; the other carried out in the rail industry using virtual meeting arrangements during lockdown While it required a different way of working, the depth and quality of the virtual analysis turned out to be significantly better than the analysis facilitated face-to-face.
